Live Streaming Bee Cam

If you have not seen this before, this is a camera looking at a few of our hives in one of our apiaries. It’s live 24 hours a day so that you can see some of the bees up close! We are looking to add another couple of cameras at some point this year now that we have the infrastructure there to support it. To ensure the stream is smooth, it runs slightly behind the current time.

Compatibility Note: We are working to resolve this, but at the moment the stream only works properly on iOS and Android devices, so you are best off using a mobile device to view it. You can optionally install the HLS Player Plugin for Chrome Browser which can be found here: HLS Player Plugin, you will probably need to restart chrome for it to work, it will then stream perfectly for you.

Future Plans…

At some point we will be adding an environmental monitoring station to this apiary that we can live stream the data to this page, so you will be able to see the following information.

We are currently in the process of building this monitoring station using a Raspberry Pi. This is something we have wanted to do for a couple of years but not got round to it. This information will then be stored and charted out so you can see historical data.

  • Air and  Ground Temperature

  • Relative Humidity

  • Ground Moisture Level

  • Light Level (LUX) and UVA and UVB Figures

  • Carbon Dioxide, Carbon Monoxide, Methane and Hydrogen levels

  • Wind Speed, Wind Direction and Rain Level
